Date Night!

I got a surprise phone call this morning (mind you at 8:30 AM on a Saturday, my one day to sleep in!), and it was my Mom wanting to come get Alex to spend the day with them and then have a sleepover with him and our nephew, Shawn! I said, sure he loves to go over and have sleepovers at Grammie and Papa's!
About a half an hour later, they called back and said that they were wanted to come take all my kids, and also my niece Lexi and have a sleepover at their house with all the Grandkids!!! I said, come and get them!! I then needed to quickly get them up and ready for them to come in about 20 minutes, but they were so excited to go over.
Bella kept saying she wanted to go see Taco. She is my Sister's new Chihuahua puppy that Santa brought for Christmas. They have seen videos of the puppy on my sister's myspace page, but they haven't seen her yet, and she is so adorable!! So I think that seeing the puppy was on the list of things to do with them today!
Anyways, they came about 9:45 and took them home with them and it was soooo different having complete silence for the whole day today!! Jason and I were able to have kind of a date night. I was able to go grocery shopping with just myself and to take my time. I also went to Fred Meyer and got some extra house keys made for my Mom and Dad to have one, and another one for me since I tend to lose my keys alot! LOL
Jason and I went out for dinner to Sweet Tomatoes! I actually just got a coupon in the mail yesterday for it and since my kids are not much into eating salads, we don't get to go there as often as I'd like to! It was so nice to just have a quiet meal at a nice restaurant and not worry about the kids with us too!
I had such a nice, calm day today!!!
Thanks Mom and Dad. You should do more sleepovers with the Grandkids more often!!!

Spaghetti/Science Fair

Last night at Alex's school they had a spaghetti feed along with a science fair. The class had been working on their project for about three weeks.
It was pretty fun. Jason had to go into work for a couple of hours, so it was the kids and I. It was fun though. They served spaghetti (Which was pretty good), salad, Italian bread, and they had ice cream for dessert, and it cost $1 per person. Not bad for a nice meal for 4of us!
The project that Alex's school did was "Which brand of Microwave popcorn popped the most kernals". According to their study, good ol' Orville Redenbachers popped the most, leaving the least amount of unpopped kernals in the bag.
It was fun. But after getting done eating, the girls got quite restless, so we didn't stay for vey long. But it was still fun and it's good for Alex to get excited for school related events!

Our Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day!!

Last night I went over to Albertsons to rent a movie at their Red Box and they had Lobster tails, 2 in a package for $4.99! I could not pass up such a good deal, so I got two packages and decided that I would treat my family to Lobster!
The only thing is that I should have bought more than the 2! The kids (well not Sofy really) but Alex and especially Bella loves shellfish. When Jason has gone crabbing, she usually eats most it!
I only got the two packages not knowing if they would even want to try it. They can be kind of picky with new food and they've never had lobster before.
I boiled the tails for about 20 minutes, let them cool for about 10. Then I cut off the top of the shell, exposing the meat. I then brushed on a citrus butter and broiled them for about 8 minutes. They turned out fantastic.
With the 4 tails, Jason had 1, Alex had 1, Bella had 1 and 1/2, and I had about 3 bites of one! Bella kept asking for more, and the good Mom that I am I gave her most of mine! After dinner was over Alex asked if we could have lobster for dinner tomarrow! I said probably not!
We also had clam strips, butterfly shrimp (Both frozen from a box), roasted asparagus, and strawberry (From a box mix) cupcakes with ice cream for dessert. I was so excited for the ice cream. They had the Tillamook "wild mountain blackberry"! That is my favorite ice cream and I've only seen it sold in the cheese factory, never in the grocery store. I really hit the jackpot last night!

We had a nice Valentine's. Jason even bought me the most beautiful bouquet of Roses!! They were the ones from Pro Flowers that I hear ads for on the radio throughout the day! They are the prettiest ones I've ever seen and there is even a couple of green colored ones! I love green colored flowers. They are so unexpected, yet so pretty!

Anyways, hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day too!! Here is the recipe for the cirtrus butter if you ever want to make them yourself. It was pretty easy, and it tasted so good!!!

Citrus Butter for Shellfish:

1/2 Cup Butter, melted
3 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 clove garlic
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/8 tsp Paprika
1/8 tsp Ginger

I'm new with this Blogging Thing!

I just started up this blog about the fun and sometime crazy life of our family! I have had a few friends tell me to get one, so here it is! I'm learning this as I go along.
It's interesting and sometimes difficult raising 3 children with their own challanges, but they are each so special in their own ways and we love them who they are!
