Today is my 31st Birthday!! I do not feel like I'm over 30 and like they say time does go by so fast.
Also today is a special day too. It was 10 years ago today that I had my ultrasound and found out we were having our Alexander!!!! It was my 21st birthday and now that was 10 years ago! It really does feel like it was just yesterday, and here I will have a 10 year old in 5 months!!
For my birthday today, I woke up this morning to get Sofy off onto the bus, and got Alex to school with about 6 minutes early for him. I cleaned up the house a bit. I then met around noon with my Dad, Annie, BoniJean, Shawn Ryan, Lexi, and friend Kelly Edson and her 1 yr old, Aubree. We did my tradition of my free lunch at Changs and had a wonderful lunch out!!
It was so nice that Jason took care of the house and kids for me while I did that. He got Bella off onto her bus, got Alex from school, and I got home just as Sofy came home from the bus!!!
I made the kids pizza for dinner and then my dear Mother In-Law came over to watch the kids so that I could go out with my husband, which now at our age is the best gift just to get out alone and to enjoy a nice meal together!!!
We went to Applebees and I got an Asiago/Peppercorn Steak topped with Grilled Parmesan Shimp, red potatoes, and veggies. Jason got an Island Shrimp/Rice meal. Both were so good! For my free birthday dessert, we shared a dessert shot of Strawberry Cheesecake!! It was heavenly!!
We then came home and had homemade birthday cake I made yesterday with the kids and Grandma. I made a Vanilla/Fudge Marble cake with chocolate frosting!!! The kids loved it, and I did too!!!
I opened a few gifts. Jason got me the Wii Play, Boni gave me some money (Very well needed and loved!), my parents got me a new Pyrex baking pan set, which I've only had my original set we got for our wedding and had done theirfair share of baking and really needed some new ones, boxed brownie mixes, my favorite cereal, and a Limited Edition Mickey Mouse Watch that they got at Disneyland, that is ONLY sold at Disneyland! It was awesome. I love having a Mickey Watch and I had one broke a few years ago!
My awesome In-laws got us our new washer 2 weeks ago!!!! That is one gift that is so appreciated, and very needed right now when the other one broke!!!!
So, I've had a great birthday, it was nice to have some time to myself for a little bit, loved my hubby taking care of our kids for me, had a nice lunch out with my family, a lovely dinner out with my husband, and some fun, birthday moments with my kids!
I hope that this year of my life will be a happy, joyful, fun, safe, and healthy one!!!!

2 Alexanders!!!!
On Sunday as I was checking Facebook, I saw that my friend, Becky, had given birth to her second child, who they named Alexander!!
Becky (Or Rebecca now) was one of my very best friends when I was in Elementry School at Jennings Lodge and at Jr. High school at Ogden Middle, and I spent many days with her having fun and being each other's best friend. Their next door neighbor, Larleen, had dated my Uncle Chris when they were in High School and knew my Mom and Grandma (Another "Small World" moment) and we spent many afternoons and Summer Days, babysitting her two boys, who are both so grown up I can't believe it!!
When our Freshman year came, I went to Benjamin Franklin Academy, an LDS based charter school that had a few dozen chapters in the Western States. The couple that started it was the daughter and son in-law of Cleon Skousen, whom I had the great pleasure of meeting when I was 15 and sadly just realized in the past few years of his great works and writings that he had given to the world. At the time I didn't know who he was except that he was the Father of our school founder!
Anyways, when I went to that school Becky continued with public school and went to Oregon City High, where I would have gone had I not gone to BFA. So, our friendship came to a slow end. She came to a couple of my birthdays but that was about it. She invited me to their graduation and she told me that she was joining the Marines and that was the last time I'd seen or talked to her. I sadly missed her call from Hawaii where she was stationed to congratulate me when she recieved my wedding annoucement. Had she called an hour later, I would have been home from work!!
I thought about her often, and especially when our nation was attacked and prayed for her safety as I knew that we would be a country at war and prayed for her safety often.
I tried to search for her and had even "Googled" her a few times, but had no luck. When I joined Facebook, I kept searching for her and kept checking several times, but still couldn't find her. I was surprised to find that there were over 1,000 women with her same name (Quite common actually).
I had a friend we had gone to school with request to be my friend and when I checked out Kelly's page, there she was!!! It was an exciting moment and it's been great catching up and seeing our husbands and kids! She's now out of the service, but her husband is in the military and now she's a stay-at-home Mom to her now 2 boys! They just moved back to Texas to where he was re-stationed about 2 months ago.
So, when I saw that she too had named her son Alexander, I found it so ironic that we both named our Sons Alexander. We never would have thought 20 years ago when we were best friends in elementry school, that 10 years later, I would be married with a son with that name, and nearly 10 years after that, she would name her son that too!!!! I guess we had the same name in mind even that long ago!!!
